Blood Sugar Summer

Blood Sugar Summer is a doomwave band based out of the UK. Now, there are some of you asking doomwave, what is that? For those who aren’t up on all the subgenre’s of music, doomwave is pretty similar to goth. In fact I would classify it as goth.

So this song like many songs of the genre has a slight melancholy feel to it. It uses minor keys, and the tempo is a little slower than some songs. And the music doesn’t overpower the lyrics in this song. Many musicians struggle to find that blend. And Blood Sugar Summer has got it right in this song. It’s easy to understand the lyrics and the music enhances them. And like many goth songs the lyrics are sad. The song is the story of a famous model whose pictures are in billboards and magazines, but it isn’t enough for her. The lyrics state she’s so lonely. It’s a reminder to all of us that fame doesn’t mean that you are going to be happy.

The duo that forms the band are Benjó James – vocals and Jack Wilson – guitars. They only formed in 2012, and they have already put out a song with strong lyrics and a great melody. I hope this band continues all of its hard work because I believe that they can produce some really great music in the future as they develop their style.

So go listen to their music, and let me know what you think of this band.
