Valentine's Day Altered Tin

So Valentine's Day will be here next week. And you'd like to give your valentine a little something that is inexpensive and well has that special feel to it. This is the valentine idea for you. It's easy to make, and well it's simple enough for kids, and the crafty challenged. It's also from a lot of items that you already have around the house.

Here's What You're Going to Need

a tin with a lid
red, pink, and white paint
modge podge
corrugated cardboard
flat cardboard
shiny foil
black sharpie
gesso
pink ribbon
arrow stamp
black ink

First paint the tin with the gesso

Next paint the outside of the tin red.

Now cut out three hearts one from the corrugated cardboard, one from the flat cardboard and one from the shiny foil. Paint two of the hearts pink. And glue them together. beginning with the corrugated cardboard on the bottom and the foil on top. Then glue them onto the inside of the tin.

Now it's time to work on your lid. Paint some circles in pink and white on the lid. While that's drying cut an over out of cardboard. Paint the cardboard pink. After both are dry, take and stop the arrow stamp and use it on the lid and the cardboard. Next write Valentine across the oval, and glue it to the lid.

Then glue ribbon onto the side of the tin. And you have a handmade Valentine for Valentine's Day.

  1. Very cute tutorial on making a Valentine tin. This might be a good project today as school is closed due to snow for the third Monday in a row. Thank you for sharing with the Clever Chicks Blog Hop! I hope you’ll join us again next week!
