Jackolantern Do It Yourself Style

It's fall, and for those of us with oak trees, we have an overabundance of acorns. What do you do with all of those acorns. They are super easy to decorate with, and with Halloween coming they are perfect for Halloween DIY's. Here's a super easy Jackolantern done do it yourself style.

First gather up a bunch of acorns. You'll want to prep them. It's super easy! Just bake them on a cookie sheet or flat surface for an hour at 250 degrees.

Next get out that paint. Paint those little acorns orange. It will take a few coats to get the color orange you want. And then use some black paint to add the eyes, nose and mouth. Make sure you use a small brush to do this.
Then glue the tops onto the acorns. You can use a glue gun or modge podge. It's your choice. Then coat it with a coat of modge podge.

It's a super easy craft for the craft challenged.

Another super easy way to use those acorns.

  1. These are adorable!! I'll have to see if we have any acorns in our area, I'm sure we do we have tons of trees or all sorts. I'm new to the area. :)

  2. That looks really cute. Thanks for sharing it.

  3. Those are so cute! Can I ask why it's necessary to bake them first?

    1. You bake them so you kill off bugs and fungus that might be residing in them. And it gets extra moisture out of them.

  4. Very cute little things.
