Keeping Halloween Healthy

Halloween will soon be here. It's time for parties and gorging on that trick or treat candy. And well you know you can slip into some unhealthy habits with all of these Halloween festivities. So here are some tips for keeping Halloween a little bit more healthy this year.


Don't just stand around at parties! Keep moving! If there is music playing at the party your at feel free to dance. It's a great way to burn off calories.

There are loads of opportunities that communities offer that don't just involve sitting in one place on Halloween. Go on a Zombie Walk with your friends. It's a great and fun way to get your exercise.

Eat Something Healthy

Yes, there are sweets galore at every Halloween bash. And yes, it's okay to sample a couple. But make sure that you are eating some of those carrots that are available on the veggie trays. If you are hosting a party, make sure that all of those fun snacks you are making include something healthy to eat. Veggie and fruit trays are great. And you can get really creative with salads too. You can actually use oranges to make a jackolantern and serve a salad in them. It's cute and way healthy!

Trick Or Treat

Give something other than candy to your trick or treaters this year. Crayons, pencils, erasers, and stickers are all great fun to give away. And hey they are non edible.

Be Safe

When you are out and about, you should always practice safe walking skills. But especially when there are loads of children or adults trick or treating. Make sure you encourage children to walk and not run. And of course they need to check that candy before they begin eating it.
