The Day Trees Grew Scraves

Sunday, the trees in my hometown grew scarves. Now there are some of you who are saying that can't happen. But it did. You see it was the annual Chase the Chill Scarf Bombing in Fort Wayne, Indiana.

For those of you who have never been part of a scarf bombing, it's pretty simple. Individuals take scarves and tie them to the trees. Some of you are saying that's it? Yep, that's all you do.

And then some are asking why would you do that? We all know that there are individuals who are homeless. It's winter and it is usually cold. Individuals who are homeless need to be able to layer their clothes in order to survive. But they may not have access to warm quality items to layer up. Scarf bombing allows individuals to have easy access to these items. It's just that simple. Individuals can just take the scarves if they need it.

Now I'm pretty sure there are also individuals who are saying that doesn't solve the problem of homelessness. You would be right. Homelessness is a problem that is difficult to solve for many individuals. But providing these individuals with a scarf or hat or a coat can meet an immediate need they have. Let's face it most of us don't have the finances or the influence to solve the whole problem. But many of us are able to meet an immediate need like a scarf or hat for someone who is in need.

I guess it is kind of up to all of us. Do we all want to sit and complain about problems that exist in the world? Or do we want to do what we are able to do in order to make someone's day a little easier?

  1. I think that's a fantastic idea! We have a park with lots of trees where I live. I think I'm doing to hang a few scarves down there.

  2. I think it is a grand idea. Solving the problem of homelessness is a big thing but doing some things along the way is just as important
