Fifteen years ago today there was a war declared. It was that War On Terrorism that we have all heard about so much in the news over the past years. But do you remember that week? Do remember how everyone was waiting for something to happen?
We were all depressed after the events of September 11th. I remember the days in between the eleventh and the declaration of war on terrorism. I remember sitting with friends. We all stated how depressed we were. And we didn't know what would happen.
And there was a speech by the president. Our enemy was declared, and we were going to do something about it. We knew who to be angry at. We came out of the depression wanting to fight. And fighting occurred. It seemed so easy. We thought it was over. Afghanistan was freed of the enemy.
But then there was a new enemy. We were warned that it would be a long war. But I don't think that most of us thought it would last as long as it has. Fifteen years later Bin Laden is dead. But there seems to continue to be a problem.
Will the problem ever end?
