Ways To Make Your Laundry More Environmentally Friendly

We all want to reduce our environmental footprint don't we? Surprisingly laundry is one of those places we can make little changes that can benefit the world. There are ways to make your laundry more environmentally friendly. Here are a few simple ideas that you can put into action. A few I have tried, and some I will test out in the future.

It's been around for ages, but Borax is boasted to be a great substitute for stain cleaners. It can remove stains like blood and chocolate. And there are fewer chemicals making its way into the waterways.

Soda Water

Soda water mixed with salt can remove fruit and wine stains. This is no new tip, but the reason it's been around so long is it works.

Half A Cup

Instead of using the full cup of detergent that is recommended try cutting it down to half. You might be surprised that you obtain the same results from just half. most people tend to use way too much detergent.

Vinegar is one of those all purpose items. You can use 1/4 cup of vinegar as a substitute for fabric softener.

If you have whites and want to get them whiter. Try boiling the items in hot water with lemon juice. Who would have thought? But the combination of lemon juice and sunlight really is a whitener. So once you've boiled the socks, hang them in the sun to dry.
