The Double Edged Sword

Recently, I've been hit with the double edged sword called overtime. I work with individuals who are known as overtime hogs. They want and fight over every second of overtime that is available. I am not one of those individuals. I cherish my time off. I have many other interests in life.

But in the past couple of weeks I have realized that it could be addictive. The first and most important thing is the size of those checks you receive. You get one of those checks with those extra work hours added in and you say to yourself woohoo I am rich. But then reality hits because you don't have time to get to the bank to deposit that check.

Then there is that moment when you receive a phone call saying you have to go to work on your day off. Umm, wait a minute! When will I have time to do my laundry? It is a problem. And of course there is that other thing that I have to do, my blog. Don't these people know I have faithful followers?

And then the company adds a little extra whammy to the mix. They offer early retirement to individuals. You hear that news and you say what are they thinking? So you think I don't want to work with them on solving this problem. I want my time off.

Overall, I want my time off. I need to be able to cash that check I worked for.
