Want to be strong to the finish just like Popeye? Then here’s a simple healthy spinach spread that is less than boring.

Thaw out a 10 oz. package of chopped frozen spinach. Squeeze the spinach to get rid of excess liquid. Mix 2 tablespoons of minced green onions, ¼ cup of yogurt, ½ teaspoon of lemon juice, ½ teaspoon Worcestershire sauce, ½ teaspoon horseradish, and 4 drops of hot pepper sauce. How I Became a Cambodian Space Project Fan

I've always found it interesting how an individuals tastes in music evolve. I always smile when someone says"Hey who is this playing I've never heard this song before?" In some cases a whole new world is opened up to people through new music. So I decided to let everybody hear about how I became a fan of Cambodian Space Project.
It all started with a movie. This one!

There a part of the movie where the lead character goes into a record shop and asks the owner who is playing. The owner of the shop states that the cd is a compilation of 60's Cambodian music. He tells her that listening to the third song always makes him feel happy. And I liked the song. So I needed to find that song. This led me to the next step.

Sung by Ros Sereysothea
Then I thought I like this song I wonder if I would like any other Cambodian 60's music so I hunted down music by a guy called Chum Kem. He introduced the twist to Cambodia.

Chum Kem
Then on the sidebar of the youtube page was this sidebar called Rock Cambodia. I thought to myself I wonder what this is?
Srey Thy
It's the trailer for a movie by a singer named Srey Thy. She's the lead sing of Cambodian Space Project. So I thought to myself what do they sound like?
Cambodian Space Project
I listened, and it made me feel happy!
So that's the five steps I took to become a fan of a band.
How did you become a fan of the music you listen to?

Guest Blogger Captain

I want to set the record straight. I did not break the last computer on purpose, but I was not upset when it did break. I simply step on the closed computer. Then when my pet human went to turn it on she was getting all bent out of shape, and she called me a named. Fat! Once again I must let the world know that I am not fat, I am big boned. And besides it was in my way! I wanted to walk across the coffee table where it was sitting. I simply stepped on it. How was I to know that it was so flimsy? They should really make those things more durable.

I was not upset when it broke, because my pet human spent less time on that stupid machine. I was able to spend more time on my humans lap. And of course she did follow my visual command to pet me.  And I have decided that computers are not really good for my pet human. I must somehow get her away from that computer so that she can spend more quality time meeting my petting needs. Does anyone have suggestions on ways to do this?

Why Fit In When You Were Born to Stand Out!

As I drove down the road today, I saw this remarkable vehicle sitting on a car lot. I'm not sure what the make or model was, but it was purple with a black and white dalmation design painted on it. Not a dog, but like its coat. I want this car! I mean in the words of Dr. Seuss, Why fit in when you were born to stand out?

The Monsterjunkies Book Review

The Monsterjunkies

By Erik Daniel Shein and L.M. Reker

The Monsterjunkie’s aren’t your typical family. They live on an estate with “monsters” that Dr. Monsterjunkie has located throughout the world. The “monsters” are really extremely rare creatures, in some cases individuals. The estate has a reputation as being kind of odd. And if you’re a sensitive teenage boy like Crow, the youngest of the Monsterjunkie children, this reputation can be a problem at school. His older sister, Indigo, has a different personality so the houses reputation doesn’t affect her, it’s the secretiveness her parents, Talon and Pandora, insist on.

The Monsterjunkies, an American Family Odyssey. As the story in the book unfolds, Crow and Indigo begin to grow up. Crow develops friendships with a group of with a group of boys who dub themselves the Schnogginʹ Knocker’s. And Indigo encourages her parents to be more open with the community about the families work with cryptozoology.

I really enjoyed reading this book. It is written for young adults so it is easy to read.  The fact that family accepts and provides sanctuary to so many different individuals and creatures really appealed to me. And it was fun to read about mythical creatures. All of the characters in the book are interesting, but Beau, the Sasquatch, is my absolute favorite. I loved how the writers took a creature from folklore and presented him as an intelligent being who expresses his emotions articulately.

The overall theme of the book is bullying.  Each individual in the book has faced situations where they do not fit into what is called “normal” by the world they live in. And each character solves the problem in their own manner. To me the book really showed how bullying is really an action that is cultivated by hatred. Bullying has its seeds in our cultures lack of acceptance of all individuals in our society. And the author’s explore how our attitudes towards the planet affect the people on the planet. Do we respect the lives of all creatures on the planet, or do we believe that the planet is there simply for our personal gain?

If you want to read a book that presents a positive ways to deal with bullying on a small and large scale, The Monsterjunkies is the book for you.

Favorite Items of the Day

I made my first collage today. Isn't it cool? I thought I would try a little different look for my favorite things of the day. Got to admit I like the way it turned out.

So here's where you can find the goods, and a little bit of info about them.

The grey and red fascinator is gorgeous! I love the bow. It's handmade by Kitty Mae Millinery. Susan Dillon is the owner of the shop and there are some gorgeous hats there. She also has a kickstarter campaign going on to raise funds for her Kentucky Derby Hats 2013. She's sporting some pretty cool incentives.

The brown shirt is adorable with daisies and the white cuffs. Real Gone Cat Clothes

The black lace fan is beautiful and versatile. It can be used as a fashion accessory, or as room décor. Super Fun Time Store 9

And the red bead necklace is fantastic! I love the beadwork! Exotic Treasures Jewelry

And the striped shoes are just so much fun! They are from Shabby Apple.

So let me know what all of you think.

It's the Little Things

I don’t know about all of you, but I often find the little things in life to be the most frustrating.  And it’s not just little thing occurring that frustrate me. It’s a series of little things. For instance when you purchase a new drier, have it installed, turn it on and you find out you have to go get new fuses. It didn’t really bother me that the original drier quit working I figured that’s part of life things break down, but not having the new one ready to go the instant it was installed frustrated me. It’s a little weird I think. The big thing didn’t bother me, but boy was I frustrated when the little thing occurred. Does that just happen to me or does it happen to other people too.

National Hat Day

January 15th is National Hat Day. I am such a fan of hats that I can’t believe that I’ve missed this special day before now. So in honor of this day let’s take a look at my favorite hats of the day.

I love the blue trim and feathers on this one. It's beautiful!

Large Brimmed Black Victorian Hat
And nobody did hats like the Victorians. Lots of flowers, lots of lace, and lots of feathers. Those hats made a statement!
Pinned Image
And of course a flapper hat is always awesome! I love the pink, and the flowers.
Kentucky Derby Hats 10
Sunflower hats perk up everyday. And this one for the Kentucky Derby is definitely one to build an outfit around.
Princess Leia Baby Hat
And my absolute favorite of the group is the Princess Leia hat! Need I say more!
And keep in mind The greatest undeveloped territory in the world lies under your hat.

Snowbird Weather Reports

I don’t know if any of you have snowbirds in your family, but I do. Well not actually snowbirds, they are full time residents of Florida. And I have many friends who reside in areas of the country with warm weather. But anyways, have you noticed how people who reside in warmer climates are very vocal about the weather. An example of this is my friend Craig’s posting on facebook stating that it’s 34 degrees in Los Angeles. Now I know that is abnormally cold for Los Angeles, but gees, it’s hard to feel sorry for him because the high temperature for the day here is only going to be 24 degrees. The only response I could must was I wish it was 34 here. To all of you living in warm climates I am happy for you, but do you really have to rub it in when the temperature is below freezing here?

I am so pleased; a second pet human has shown up at our house. It is splendid to have another pet to shower with my attention. At first I was a little unsure. You never know what these strays may do, or how a stray may act. But this one seems to be quite workable. He greets me appropriately, and he allows me to sleep with him. Just like everyone else around here he needs groomed so I have begun to clean him up. I am still unsure how attached I should become to this pet sometimes pets come and go, but I do like him. And I plan to provide him with the attention a good pet deserves.

What Did We With Our Spare Time Before Facebook Games?

I recently started playing Megapolis, and of course I’m hooked.  It’s like so many of the other games on facebook, but it is different. It revolves around building a city of course. I guess it feeds into my dreams of building my own city. I can build a city without any real responsibility that comes with running a city in real life. Maybe that’s part of the reason games on facebook are so popular. Or maybe it’s just because the games are fun.

When I started playing Megapolis, I actually read the rules. Yeah, I know, you should always read the rules, but somehow it’s fun to muddle through a game. Anyway, I visited, the beginner’s page Megapolis' Beginner guide

That made playing the game so much easier.  I usually just muddle through a game. And then I found It has a complete list of all of the quests that I need to complete. There is also information on bugs in the game, and ways to fix the bugs.

But the quickgamer site also has information on other social media games including Criminal Case, Coasterville, Marketland, and Village Life.  The information for each game is easy to locate, and it’s easy to understand. The site isn’t overloaded with information so that I didn’t feel overwhelmed. But I was able to find what I needed to make my experience with Megapolis more entertaining. So if you’re playing Criminal Case, Coasterville, Maketland, Village Life, or Megapolis visit

My Hero for the Day

I was cruising around squidoo the other morning, and found this totally awesome story I want to share with everyone. It’s Amy Treumpter’s story. Her story is how one person’s desire to travel the world turned into a business that supports 200 individuals. Now that’s something to write about.

It all started with Amy watching the movie Hotel Rwanda, which is a movie about the genocide that occurred in Rwanda. The movie created a desire to visit Rwanda. So Amy looked around for opportunities to travel, and she found one through Global Volunteer Network. Through GVN she was able to travel to Rwanda and teach for three weeks.

While she was teaching she met a woman named Habiba. Habiba was a victim of the genocide, and she had no surviving family members. Amy found that Habiba made beautiful beaded pens, and she agreed to sell the pens when she returned to the UK. The 12 pens sold quickly, and soon Kilgali Crafts was developed.

Kilgali Crafts sells the products that individuals in Rwanda make. It provides an outlet for Rwandans to develop businesses that provide handmade products to individuals in the west.

Check out some of this pen! It’s not your ordinary pen!
Kilgali Crafts’ items are not what you find at the local chain store, they are unique and they support a good cause.  Hmmm, decisions, decisions, buy cheap (at the local chain store) and support a huge corporation that is mainly concerned about its profits. Or pay a little extra for something and get something cool that allows individuals to become more independent. Hmmm, what to do? Anyway, follow the links and learn more about my hero for the day.

Things I Like About Winter

How warm things feel when you pull them out of the dryer.

The way snow crunches as you walk on it when it’s really cold.

The days are actually starting to get longer again.

How white everything looks after it snows.

How hot chocolate tastes. I never bother making it in the summer.

I Don't Want To Get Up in the AM Review

I recently heard the song I Don’t Want to Get Up in the AM by Post Trauma, and I loved it! It’s a song I can relate to so well. Every morning when my alarm goes off all I want to do is scream no it’s way too early to get up. Then I went to youtube and watched the video, and it made me laugh.

Post Trauma is a three man band from California that has recently put out an album titled Sleeplelss.  Sleepless is the first half of a double album. The members of the band are Billy Ulrich, Kenny Ulrich, Joe Gnoffo, and Sean Boddy . Most of the songs are considered country rock, but country rock is really rock music with a little twang in my opinion. So their music will definitely appeal to fans of country music. But there are songs that will appeal to fans of other music forms. The song I’m That Guy is all about a guy who is only looking for short term relationships. It’s kind of refreshing to hear a song where someone says if you want something serious, I have a friend you can meet. But if you just want fun I’m that guy. An image of Jason Stackhouse from True Blood popped into my mind while I listened to the song. I can totally picture him saying something like that.
And as I listened to the song Bitter, it occurred to me that all of the songs I listened to were extremely up front and honest. The songwriters didn’t mince any words they just call things the way they see them.

There are songs that will make you want to dance, and there are songs that will make you think. But overall, Post Trauma’s music is fun to listen to.
So what are you waiting for? Head on over to their website and check out their music.

The Boy Who Played With Dark Matter

The Boy Who Played With Dark Matter by Holy Ghost Writer

The world has become over-polluted, and an International Government changes laws each day. This is the world young Zeddy lives in. Zeddy’s father, Zane, disappears mysteriously one day after a huge boom is heard. Soon Zeddy and his mother, Zadie, are off on an adventure to find his father.

Before Zeddy leaves on his adventure, he learns that there is a little bit more to his parents than he ever realized. And he also finds that his father had traveled much more than he realized. He finds a small zutterfly, which is similar to a butterfly, which his father brought back from his travels to a distant planet.

But they still need to find his father. So they go and meet Professor Zenith. And low and behold Zane and Professor Zenith have been doing research on dark matter. But the professor does not have all of the answers they need, and there are a few other obstacles that are thrown into their path, while they visit the professor.

This book is book 11 in the Sultan of Monte Cristo Series. And it is just as fun as the other two books in the series that I have read. It’s full of adventure. And it would probably appeal to younger readers since the main character is a six year old boy. He is bright, and he enjoys exploring the world. I found it really interesting because it deals with the subject of Dark Matter, and it has a science fiction feel to it. So if you’re looking for an adventure story you and your children can read together this book is for you.
It's available on amazon so don't forget to check it out.

That big white know nothing of a feline named Captain is wrong. I am not pushy! And how dare he say that especially to everyone in the world. A girl does what a girl has to do. And in order to get what I want I have to make my presence known. If I allowed him to, he would take all the attention from our pet human. The way things are he gets way too much attention.

And another thing about that Captain is he’s always first in line at the food bowl. Sometimes he just lies right in front of it. I mean he is facing the food bowl with paws on each side of the bowl. Nobody can get to the food. So of course I have to push my way up to the bowl. Sometimes, I just walk on top of him. That’s what he gets for planting his big butt in front of the food. And I don’t see that he has any reason to complain about me doing this. So he has absolutely no right to call me pushy.

BudaRest Music Review

BudaRest are a music duo, who write and perform their own music. The group members are Bud Buckley, and Jax Resto. They are originally from New York, but now reside in South Florida. I recently listened to their music on Reverbnation, and I liked it.

The song Step on My Heart made me think of times when I knew a relationship probably wasn’t going to work out, but I decided to go ahead with the relationship. And how I hoped that things would work out, even though I knew it wouldn’t.

I also enjoyed the song Make Superman Cry. It’s a sad song about the loss of a parent. It felt like an accurate description of how a child wouldn’t ask a living parent about what happened to the parent who is no longer in their life. How the child doesn’t want to cause the parent anymore pain by asking questions. And the child feels that asking wouldn’t do much good anyway.

And they provided me with another song they wrote called Just Be Nice. This song is about how religion can sometimes be about rules instead of treating people as we would want to be treated. The music in the song is upbeat and catchy so it’s a fun to listen to, and the it makes you think about a couple of things too.
Both of the musicians have led diverse lives. Bud worked as a journalist, PR Director, and teacher. While Jax performed with the Ringling Brother’s Circus, and then began playing drums in a band, songwriting, and writing novels. Oh yeah, and she became a wife and mother. Then they came together to form BudaRest. They currently have a goal of producing a song a week. That’s a pretty busy schedule, but they are meeting the goal, and they expect to have an album to release this year. Other songs they have written will be included in an upcoming eBook.

Hot Pineapple Drink

Want something a little different to go along with your breakfast? Or just some sort of punch for a little gathering of friends. Try some Hot Pineapple Drink. Here’s what you need. 48 oz of pineapple juice, 2/3 cup orange juice, 2 tbsp butter (optional), 2 tbsp brown sugar, 5 sticks of cinnamon.  Add all of the items to a pot, and bring to a boil. Then reduce heat and simmer for 20 minutes. Remove the cinnamon sticks, and serve.

Happy New Year
