There’s a Tap on Your Shoulder

You are standing in line at the grocery store, and there’s a tap on your shoulder. There is a man standing behind you. But you don’t know him. You’ve never seen him before in your life. So you turn back around, he taps you on the shoulder again. And this time when you turn around he says I can make your wildest dream come true. You think to yourself the mayor of crazy town is behind me. You pay for your groceries, and go to the parking lot. The man follows you, and he says I can make your wildest dreams come true, do you want your dreams to come true.

So you decide to play along. You say how can you make all of my dreams come true? Nobody is able to do that. He repeats himself. So you say, why are you asking me? Everyone has crazy dreams that they want to come true. He doesn’t respond he just looks at you. You continue to put your groceries away, and you wish that he just stands there.

As you start to get into your car he says don’t you want your dreams to come true? You sigh, thinking how I get rid of this crackpot. But you reply with of course I do, but what’s the catch? There’s no catch the man claims, so I ask how much does it cost? It costs nothing he claims. Well it costs nothing right now. Ah, I think there’s the catch. He says it may cost everything, or it may cost nothing. And he claims I’ll never know unless I take his offer.

So my question to all of you is do you take the offer?

Arsenal E’ Vega Turn’t Up

Arsenal E’ Vega has returned with a new song, and a new video. This rap singer has delivered a song with some powerful imagery, in fact the video has put together is even more powerful.

It’s the story of an undercover cop, who discovers that he has to make a difficult choice. The lyrics to the song are all about the many things that the rapper loves about this woman. The video really shows how a person may think that you know someone, but in reality an individual may be completely different from the person you believe you know.

I think the music fits perfectly with the images in the video. The lyrics talk about an individual who doesn’t care about people what people think as long as they get the money. And the woman in the video doesn’t care what she has to do in order to get what she wants. She’s brutal! The video isn’t the work of an amateur. Arsenal has taken the time to put together a well thought out and professionally produced product. The video does have violence so those who are offended by violence should probably keep that in mind. But it isn’t violence just for the sake of violence, it’s part of the story, and there is a difference in that kind of violence.

This video is a compliment to Arsenal E’ Vega’s album Ashes to Snow.  And rap fans should keep an eye on his work because he produces a quality product.

Orange Infused Salt

A few weeks ago, I saw infused salt in several shops online. I then began to look at how you get infused salt. And I discovered it really isn’t that difficult to make. In fact it’s pretty easy. So here is what you need in order to make a really simple orange infused salt.

This is all you need.

Yep, two things are all you need, an orange and some sea salt.

First put the sea salt on a paper towel. Next, peel the orange, Arrange the orange peels and around the salt on the paper towel.

Let them sit for overnight. You’ll notice that the oils from the orange peels will have seeped into the paper towel. That’s what is supposed to happen. It’s also being absorbed into the salt.

So what you end up with is a salt with a little taste of salt. It’s that simple! You can use it to cook fish, shrimp or poultry. Try it you’ll like it!

If I Had a Million Dollars

If I had a million dollars this is how I would treat myself right here and right now.

I'd buy all a year's supply of Dole Strawberry Dippers for all of my friends and family because they just taste so yummy!

I'd buy this hat because it's so cute! I love the cheetah print on the bill. Daisys Outlet

I'd add this ring to my collection because it's just so cool! JBWickedPaperDolls

I need a new coffee table so I'd pick up this coffee table by liquidesigns. It's kind of loud, but its made out of cardboard really. It's pretty cool.

And last but not least a kawaii minions phone case. Cause it's just so much fun, and who doesn't love the minions? And the money goes to charity! Unicorn Alley

Let me know what you would buy if you could just blow your money on fun stuff. And saying you'd buy things for your family doesn't count we'd all do that!

Friday Photos

You never know what you are going to see as you drive around. Once and a while the places we don't expect to see anything great will offer us some of the greatest beauty. And that's what happened one day as I drove past a parking lot. There was a small field full of flowers. Here is one of the photos I took, let me know which version of it you like best.

What is the Bottom Line?

What is it that really makes a business successful? The bottom line is different for each business. Some businesses draw the bottom line at how much money they make bigger and bigger profits, but there are some out there that have a different look at success.

Here are three businesses that look at success in a little different light, and deserve some special attention.

Chicago Honey Co-Op is a company that specializes in honey. This co-op is actually a non-profit that focuses in on urban bee keeping. They believe that you can have bees in an urban environment. They recognize the importance of the honey bee, and they support the Chicago bee keeping community through classes, and an outlet to sell their products. And they have quite a few products that include honey, candles, and soap. The company’s view of success seems to be making sure that there is a thriving bee community that allows our flowers and plants to be pollinated.

The Giving Keys is a company that makes hand stamped jewelry. The jewelry is made from keys that are stamped with inspirational words. The great thing about this company is that they work with a reputable charity to employ homeless individuals. They provide these individuals with jobs, which is so valuable to individuals who have lost everything. This company has decided that providing individuals with meaningful employment making a product that sell in stores across the country is what is really important.

Blue Starling Candle Company is a small company that sells candles and soap. This company has decided that the bottom line is customer satisfaction. In a day and age when speaking to a person at a company is virtually impossible, and a company believes it is always right, this company has a policy of satisfaction guaranteed. What does that mean? If you purchase their items, and after 14 days you’re not satisfied with their product they will refund your money. You don’t have to exchange it for other products; you don’t have to pay for shipping. You simply contact them and let them know about your dissatisfaction. It’s simple, and it shows how confident they are in their product.

So, while making money may be the reason a business exists, but it doesn’t have to be the only one does it?

Don’t Stand in the Way of Fate

The best part of going out for Chinese food isn’t really the Kung pao chicken, or the eggrolls. The best part of going out for Chinese food is the fortune cookie. Fortune cookies don’t really taste good, but they come with that valuable slip of paper. Those words of wisdom that make us go hmm? So the next time you go out for Chinese don’t stand in the way of fate, do what the fortune cookie says. And if you’re not going out for Chinese tonight here are some fortune cookies fortunes to follow.

I Sat Through the Whole Movie

We’ve all done it, we’ve all sat through a movie and afterwards we’ve told ourselves I sat through the whole movie, I can’t believe I just spent my time doing that. But even though we say the movie was awful, there were things we liked about the movies. Here are three of the movies that I can’t believe I sat through the whole movie.

Bad Taste

Crumb’s Crunchy Delights is an intergalactic food chain that has decided to add a new ingredient to its food. Yes, the aliens have invaded, and humans are the secret ingredient for their snacks. Okay, so I thought it was kind of along the lines of a zombie movie when I read the description so I checked it out. The movie has bad special effects, the costumes are bad, but there is humor in the movie. But the real reason I watched the whole thing. And this may only be understood by the geeks in the crowd. At the beginning of the movie Derek the main character in the movie has a Harry Potter scarf on. Yes he is wearing the colors from Harry Potter’s house. I sat through the movie wondering if J.K. Rowling watched the movie and if it was really the inspiration for the house colors.

Buck Rogers Planet Outlaws

Yes, this is a classic b movie, and well if you haven’t seen it you should. Buck Rogers and Buddy Wade are on a flight over the North Pole. They crash and low and behold 500 years later they are awakened to find that there is evil that must be fought in the world. And their mission is to do just that. The movie is the first in a series of movies. Okay, it is cheesy, but it really does reflect the times it was produced in. The first movie in the series came out in 1939. So these were very real issues, okay they are still real issues there is always a struggle between good and evil. But it did hold my attention because of that.

The Abominable Dr. Phibes

This 1971 movie about a man who seeks revenge on the men he believes are responsible for his wife’s death stars Vincent Price. And like Johnny Depp, Vincent Price is incapable of making a bad movie. Okay, well at least movies that aren’t interesting. So of course I had to watch the whole thing. The best part of the movie is when Phibes’ assistant is destroying all of his creations at the end of the movie with a sledgehammer. The police are in the room and she is still smashing away.

So if you ever just want to watch something a little offbeat check out one of these movies they will deliver offbeat.

The Hiding

The Hiding is a band that has been around for a few years. They hail from Australia, and they have released a new song called Run City Run. The band traveled to the States earlier this year to mix and record the song. And I like the results of their work.

The song has a pretty melody that is fun and catchy. But if you listen to the lyrics of the song it isn’t fun or light; it’s really about being lonely. It’s all about how an individual doesn’t understand why they are alone. The lyrics talk about being pulled into life. And even though the lyrics talk about loneliness I don’t think this is a depressing song. It’s more about I’m alone now, but things will change. In fact they state it’s not over yet, the world pulls me in.

I really enjoyed watching the video too. Since the song is about loneliness the band uses a lone figure painting a picture. The picture is a self-portrait. I think a lot of bands would have shown themselves playing instruments, or looking for members of the opposite sex. But this band has stuck with a simpler theme for the video, and I think that is what makes it so great. They have stuck with a solitary individual all alone and after all isn’t that how you feel when you feel lonely?

The band has released this song to college radio stations in the States, and I hope that it does well. I think its combination of a catchy melody along with intelligent lyrics about an emotion we have all experienced will make it a song that will pique listener’s interests. I hope it happens! And I really hope this band makes a big mark on the music scene in the US.

DIY Apricot Facial Scrub

We all want skin that looks and feels great, but those over the counter chemicals be kind of harsh on the skin in the long run. So here is a simple scrub made out of ingredients around the house, that will make your skin look great, and doesn’t taste that bad either.

Whose Shoes Would I Wear?

If you could wear someone else’s shoes for a day what would that be like? Imagine what it would like to be that person, who would you be? I think that’s a tough question. There are so many people that I would like to be like. Whose shoes would I wear?

Would I be a performer? I really like Pink’s music. I think her songs are great. I like her style. I like how she does what she wants to do, so maybe I would want to wear her shoes, but then again would I want to put up with the press? Would I be able to handle the criticism of my music? Probably not.

Would I be a politician? Hillary Clinton seems to be pretty successful. She has power; she has influence that might be pretty cool. But then she has to deal with Bill. That probably wouldn’t work either.

Okay, so maybe Mother Teresa. She did a lot of really good stuff, she helped so many people, but those are awfully big shoes to fill. Maybe not literally, but figuratively they are. How could I accomplish all she accomplished?

Maybe if I take a look back in history, Sacajaweja, she was pretty cool. She guided the exploration of a continent. She had adventure, she was intelligent. But then again she had to lug a baby along with her doing all this. And I think her husband might have actually been hired to be the guide and she did all the work. Uh, no, I don’t think I want to wear her shoes.

Then it occurred to me that I like wearing these shoes.

They are comfortable, they are fun, and they are my shoes. And that like Pink I have my own style and I do what I want. Like Hillary Clinton I have influence over the people around me, I am able to influence them in a positive way. And while I may not accomplish as much as Mother Teresa, I do really good stuff for the people who are in my life. And like Sacajaweja, I am intelligent, and I have had a lot of adventure in my life. And I have explored at least half of the continent. So I don’t want to be anybody else. I’m happy being me!

If I Had a Million Dollars

This week if I had a million dollars right here right now to just spend on whatever I please these are the things I would buy.

A grill mat by Verano just because it seems like it would make grilling so much easier.

The new Mysteria Candle by Blue Starling Candle Company because it combines wisteria and musk scents, and it sounds so amazing. And the company offers that great money back if you’re not satisfied deal. Way awesome!

This patchwork quilt by Patchwork Mountain because it’s beautiful, and quilts are just kind of cozy.

The Spock candle by ArtcessoriesbyDakota because I just finished watching the latest Star Trek movie, and well I really want the whole set of candles. It’s a geek girl’s delight! And who doesn’t love Spock?

Talk of Spring dress by the designer Peppermint. It’s just so cute, and well a new dress is always something that can be put to good use. Right?

STEM Music Review

We always hear about how difficult it is for students to understand what they are learning applies to real life. And that’s true! STEM is music that helps understand some of those connections. The point of Stem is to help young people develop an interest in science, technology, engineering, and math. And I believe it does let individuals know that what they are learning does have real life application.

The music combines lyrics about how you need geometry in order to play pool well. How engineers and architects use math in their work. It lets kids know that there is a point to all of this. The lyrics are paired with catchy music that will appeal to kids. I really like that it uses different styles of music from reggae to rap to try and get its message across.

Now, will this music make it to the local radio station, no I doubt that will happen, but I do believe that teachers can utilize this music in their classrooms. I can also see this being a great tool for homeschoolers. And while the lyrics sound like they are geared toward high school students, I think that this could be valuable for Jr. High math and science students too. That’s an age when girls often lose interest in math and science, and this could help a few of them stay interested in these subjects a little while longer.

Listen to the music, and if you have children who are interested in math and science let them listen to it too.

The Jazz in My Soul

What happens when you combine a record producer with his love of jazz? You get a mature and sensitive album with music performed by an artist who knows what good music sounds like. The Jazz in My Soul is the new album by Jacob H Carruthers III. And this album is both mature and sensitive.

The first song on the album is called The Broken Hearted. The music focuses in on the piano, and it adds strings, so the music reminds you of the times when you have felt broken hearted. Carruthers manages to show through his music just how a broken heart feels.

I really enjoyed the second song on the release called La Samba Loco. It is a faster paced song, and it is a surprise after the first song on the album. The song has loads of guitar, and it reminded me of how I felt after I have come through a period of difficulty in my life. The release of crazy energy you have. It’s the perfect follow up to a song about being broken hearted.

It wasn’t easy to pick a favorite song on the album, but I believe that Weekend Muse is my favorite. I like the rhythms of the song, I like the piano, and I love the guitar. It’s a pretty song that I enjoyed listening to.

I really can’t find anything about this album that I didn’t like. The music is well written, and it’s well produced. The songs on the album all connect, and it’s relaxing to listen to. Fans of jazz will be pleased when they listen to this album.

Don't Take the Bait

Ever have a conversation with someone, and you disagree with them about something. In fact they want to argue with you.  The individual is angry, and they want to take it out on you. They purposefully say things that push your buttons, and you begin to feel a little annoyed. What do you do? Unless, you really want to argue, don’t take the bait! Here are a few ways to deal with someone who is looking for a fight.

1.       Recognize what is Going On!

The most important thing you can do is recognize that this person just wants to argue with you. They want you to get an emotional response. And they will often stop at nothing in order to get one.  I once worked with someone who always seemed to want to get their way, and he stopped at nothing to get his way. It seemed like he always picked a fight. There was always an argument. Once you recognize that this person is picking a fight purposefully, you are well on your way to diffusing the situation.

2.       Be Firm!

At this time it is fine to try to avoid the argument by changing the subject. But there are those who simply will not have that a fight is a must. Next it’s okay to say that you will have to agree to disagree. Here you are simply setting a limit. And you are letting the individual know that you respect them as a person, but that you no longer want to discuss this.

3.       Don’t Take the Bait!

If a person continues pushing, you know the person who at this point states just for the record. Don’t take the bait! They are pushing for an emotional response that will probably get you nowhere. At this point remove yourself from the situation. If they are pushing for a fight eventually, no matter how much redirection you provide they will not be satisfied unless they get one.  You need to take control, and get out of that conversation. Allow them to have the last word, and go on to doing something else.

Follow these steps, and you can avoid an argument that will get you nowhere!

Matthew James Allen’s Music

Matthew James Allen has been around the music scene for a few years. He started out in an alternative band about a decade ago. When the band dissolved he moved on to writing music in Nashville. But he wanted to write and perform his own music. So he began working with Artistry Entertainment. And he has released two new songs through this label.

Both songs are romantic, and for readers who enjoy love songs you will definitely want to take a listen. Matthew has a sweet voice. In the song Don’t Let Go, his voice is paired with lyrics about asking for help to change his ways. The song could be for a person in your life, or it could be interpreted as a relationship with God. I think it depends on the listener. The melody is pretty, and for individuals who are looking for a song that will help you relax, this is for you.

The second song he has released is You. The song is slow, and thoughtful. It’s all about how someone life was before someone came into their life. This is a beautiful love song. The melody is so easy to listen to, and you will feel all warm and mushy when you listen to it.

The songs definitely take a more mature look at love.  They combine beautiful lyrics with pretty melodies. I recommend this music to anyone who is looking for music to share with someone they love, or anyone who just wants nice music that will help them relax. And I hope that he gets some airplay on radio stations since his music is so soothing to listen to.

Matthew James Allen’s music is available through beginning June 17th. Visit his webpage for more information.

Three Ways to Put a Little Extra Money in Your Wallet

We can all use a little extra money can’t we? And we all love to save money. So here are three sites that will help you put a little extra money in your wallet. These programs are easy, and they involve things you may already be doing.

The first program is Saving Star. This is an online program that you link your grocery shopping savings card to. When you purchase items that Saving Star is offering savings on the savings are added to your account. It’s like an automatic coupon program. So you don’t have to clip coupons in order for the money to add up. I like that this program offers a freebie every Friday. They are usually small items; it might be a candy bar, baking soda, or oatmeal. But you get the entire amount of the purchase added to your account. I also like that the program offers a percentage off a healthy food each week. 10% to 20% added to your account from the purchase of a specified fresh fruit or vegetable. Hurray! The one thing I don’t like about the program is they are slow to add the savings to your account. It can take a couple of weeks. But they do pay out through PayPal, and the cash out is within a couple of days. You coupon  clippers this is a way you can add a little extra to your wallet.

Checkout51 is the second program. This is a great program. I really like this one; they change the savings each week. All you have to do is sign up for the program, each week they offer savings on products. The program once you have purchased your items, you need to submit a copy of your receipt to the site. It’s a little bit of work if you don’t have a smartphone, but you can scan the receipt and submit it that way. The program does seem to offer some choices for healthy foods. They have presented savings on milk, strawberries, bananas, and eggs to name a few.  They are small amounts, but hey it adds up doesn’t it? My favorite thing about the program is that it doesn’t matter where you purchase the items. Any store will do. You simply have to provide them with a receipt. What I don’t like is they only pay out by check. This often takes a little while to receive.

The third program is Swagbucks. The program provides you with points for participation. It’s easy to participate in the program. You can watch videos, play games, answer daily polls, the list goes on. The program offers paypal or gift cards as ways to cash out. And there are loads of gift cards to choose from. I really like the variety of ways to participate in this program. It’s pretty easy to earn the points. The one thing I don’t like about this program is I wish they would add more videos to the video section of their site more often. But honestly you have to watch a lot of the videos in order to run out of things to view. The link I’m providing contains my referral code so if you decide to sign up please make sure you sign up under me. Yep, I get points for referrals, but it’s still a great program. And click the link if you are interested in joining.

So here are a few of the ways I add to my wallet, how do you generate a little extra money?

If I Had a Million Dollars

If I had a million dollars right now to spend on anything I wanted this is what I would buy.

I would buy these infused sea salts. The colors are beautiful, and imagine all the different tastes they would add to your food. SpiceExpressions

I’d need something to store the beautiful spices in, and Spice Expressions also provides these hexagon containers with magnetic lids to store your salt. You can store them on your frig. Isn’t that cool?

AhaLife has this awesome underwater landscape fish bowl. Won’t the little beastsies love that? It’s pricy, but hey I have a million dollars. Aha Life is also offering free shipping on orders over $75.00 right now.

A Zombies board game for all of my friends who are fans of The Walking Dead. Yeah, it’s cheesy, but it’s kind of cool too. TheLivingDead

And of course a lavender bath bomb from Emerald Hollow because bath bombs are the bomb!
