Dandelion Lemonade

Some people hate dandelions. But dandelions have that I won't give up attitude. No matter how hard you try to get rid of them they are always coming back. I figure why fight a loosing battle. And the truth is dandelions are extremely high in nutritional value.

These so called weeds are high in fiber. They are loaded with vitamin c. And they even contain some protein. So stop fighting the war against dandelions an start adding a little to your diet. In the spring it is one of the cheapest foods available. It's free.

Dandelion Lemonade

Here's What You Need

1 cup of dandelion flowers
5 lemons
1/2 cup of honey
3 cups of water

Here's What You Do

Slice one of you lemons into slices. Next remove all the green parts from the dandelions. You only want the flower itself. Now add the water, lemon and dandelions to a pan and boil for 5 minutes. It doesn't take long. Next strain the lemons and the flowers from the fluid. Now add the mixture to a container and squeeze in the juice from the lemons and then add the honey. Allow the mixture to cool and refrigerate for an hour or so. If it is too tart add more honey. It's just that simple.

And well this is something you could whip up in case of that zombie apocalypse.

More food for the survivalists in the crowd.

Murder On Safari

Sometimes adventure seekers bite off a little more than they can chew. That's the case in the book Murder On Safari by Peter Riva.

The Story

Mbuno and Pero have worked together in Africa for years. Safari's and adventure are their livelihoods. But this time it's going to be a bigger adventure than just looking at the animals. This time there is the added twist of a terrorist plot. And of course there is Pero's side job of being a courier for the US Department of State.

What I Liked About This Book

The first thing I liked about this book is that it is smart. Riva did his research. Reading the book is like a visit to Africa. His descriptions make it seem alive. And he weaves in information about the politics of the region. The book is well written. And I really like this.

I also loved the descriptions of Africa itself. It's a place I've always wanted to see, but at this point haven't been able to see. So his descriptions took me on a trip to a place I've always wanted to visit.

The story is interesting and full of adventure. There is action and while you know that it will end well there are times when you wonder what is going to happen.

Who Should Read This Book

Fans of thrillers will enjoy this book. There is a lot of action in the book. Pero is an intreesting character with a job that many of us dream about. I mean who wouldn't want to be a wildlife television producer. Also individuals who are interested in travel may enjoy this book. Like I said earlier Riva does provide great descriptions of the land. And then if you enjoy book involving the intrigue of the spy world this one may be for you. And if you have a dad who is a fan of reading the thriller genre this book might be one that you want to add to your Father's Day List.

I laid in bed tonight and could not go to sleep thinking about all sorts of things like I wonder what the word for tomorrow will be on Five-Minute Friday.  I should have been laying there quoting scripture.

Blast From The Past

My Loving man and I went to visit our son this weekend.  We always have a good time but it was cold!  My plans were to visit a beautiful garden but old man winter made his precence again!  So, while I waited patiently for my son to return from work, I walked to a couple of antique shops and found this True Tone radio for $9.

If you are like me, you probably have a large collection of coffee mugs.  I know that I’m not the only one with too many mugs, based on the huge numbers of coffee cups I see at thrift stores.  I try to only keep mugs that have a special meaning to me, but I am constantly stumbling onto new coffee mugs

Strawberry Yogurt Parfait
More Than A Mom Of Three

Yogurt parfaits are a great way to start off your day in the morning or for a sweet afternoon treat on these hot summer days without busting your diet. I have been making them a ton since I have been trying to eat healthier. I find when I eat something healthy in the morning I am more likely to stick with it all day long.

I have to admit, when I thought up this recipe, I thought I was completely crazy. I thought it would be disgusting. I’m totally open-minded to tofu now that I know how to prepare it correctly, but for some reason I thought it would be a total fail.

Earlier this week I reviewed Can a Princess Be a Firefighter by Carole P. Roman. I also received the book Rocket-Bye to review with the princess book.

The Story

In this book the author takes children on a nighttime ride on a rocket through the galaxy. They go past the moon through all of the planets. And at the end they wind up in bed sleeping safely.

What I Liked

I liked the book Can a Princess Be a Firefighter, but I absolutely loved this book. Rocket-Bye encourages children to dream big. It encourages them to not only see the world around them, but it also encourages them to see the entire universe. It might be because I really like science and space exploration, but the book successfully introduces young children to the galaxy. The illustrations in the book were perfect for the story. I loved the blues throughout the book. The balance between the words and pictures is wonderful.

Who Should Read This Book

This book is a perfect bed time story. It encourages children to see that there is more to the universe than what they see everyday. It tells them that they can go out and see everything and everyplace. It also shows that you can have fun learning and seeing the universe. The book is aimed at children between the ages of 2 to 8. And I think that it will help develop an interest in space exploration in children who read it.

I did receive a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. This review is honest and the opinions are all mine.

Tree Blossoms

Last Sunday was a beautiful spring day here in Indiana. I decided that I really did need to do something other than hang around the house. And I did. I went to brunch with my fellow Geek Girls. It was a fun time! I got to spend time talking about upcoming movies, comic books, and of course Anime. That is the perfect morning right?

After I ran to the store for those groceries I needed. I decided to stop at the park on the way home. I realized that I probably should have gone to the park first, but I never do anything in the right order it seems. And there was nothing that I picked up at the store that had to be refrigerated immediately. So off I went.

I'm really glad that I stopped by the park. The tulips are all blooming. And my faithful followers know how much I love the tulips. And well there was a bonus. The trees were blooming. It smelled heavenly.

And there was a big bonus. I actually remembered to take my camera with me. So I was able to take some pictures of the time I spent at the park.

Here they are. Let me know which picture you like best!
