The Yawn

This is Captain blogging today. And I admit that I am a little disappointed my pet human today. I am sure there are those of you who are saying to yourselves how can this be? Our pet humans are wonderful. But it is true I am disappointed in her.

I'll tell you how this has occurred. We spent some quality time napping the other day. After our nap we got up. I was just really waking up, and I let out a large yawn. Then I yawned again. And how did my pet human reply? She stated why are you yawning? You spend most of your time sleeping. I was astonished. She really has no idea how challenging my life can be. It is extremely difficult to spend your day lying at home waiting for her to come home from "work" in order to bed fed. She has no idea how difficult it is to come up with new and crafty plans to obtain catnip. She does not understand the level of creativity that is required to develop strategies on gaining meaningful quality time with her.

I feel not only disappointed in my pet human, but I also feel unappreciated. All of my love and adoration for this pet is taken for granted. The comfort and love I provide has boiled down to I do nothing all day. I do not know how to deal with these feelings of under appreciation. Do any of you fellow felines have this issue?

How Giants Fall

I read the news today. Everyone is concerned about the Chinese Stock Market. And they probably should be. Am I an expert on finances? No, but this is just another classic story of how giants fall. As I understand what has happened. The past few months market analysts have expressed concerns about China's stock market.

They have stated for months that the Chinese economy is not growing, but that the price of their stocks keep rising. They were overvalued. And a correction was due. So what always happens happened. The correction began. And money was lost. And not just a little money a lot of money.

So will the average person feel this shockwaves of this financial problem in China? Yes, in some way shape or form we will feel it to some extent. Many of us have money invested in 401k's that use the markets. One of the world's largest economies will loose some of its buying power. So yeah, we'll probably feel it in some way.

But what does this have to do with how giants fall? You see as has happened so many times before. Individuals have believed that things can never happen to them. And I believe there is a cautionary lesson in this for all of us. The lesson I see is this, don't ever become overconfident. Being confident is good. We all need to believe that we are capable. But if you fail to see that you can never fail you will end up in serious trouble. Like all things in life we need balance.

When the Money Tree Blooms

Okay, when the money tree blooms in my back yard. If you don't have one you really should plant one in your garden. But when it blooms I'll have money to burn. And well here are a few of the ways I'd burn some of that mad money I'll have.

First a monthly subscription to Kawaii Box. I mean who doesn't want a box of cuteness each month? It's like a box of fun in your mailbox each month.

Next I would get Antoinette's Rose Garden Sea Salt Soak. If you have money to spare a little luxury at bath time is needed. And I love the scent of roses.

And the geek girl in me really wants a tee shirt. I mean who doesn't need another Star Wars shirt right?

And last but not least, a ticket to Minnesota.

Now there are those of you who are thinking why Minnesota? To view the scenery? To go fishing? To go skiing? To visit the Mall of America? To visit my brother? No, none of these. Well I'd probably go visit my brother. I mean I'd be there so why not? But the reason is
The Spam Museum.

I mean why do something ordinary with all of that money? Why not do something just a little different than your average person would do.

How would you blow the money from the money tree in your backyard?

Amazing Creatures

I've always felt that bees are amazing creatures. They do so much work in so little time, and well without them humans would pretty much be screwed. They are the under appreciated workers of the world. So I was lucky when I went out into my yard and found this guy working hard.

Under Pressure

Have you ever heard that song Under Pressure by Queen? It's a classic! If you haven't seen it watch the video.

Have you ever had those days when you have just felt under pressure? If you are one of my faithful followers you would know from reading my other posts that I am currently struggling with some issues revolving around an extremely hectic work schedule. Like the lyrics in the song I feel like pressure is pushing down on me. And I hate to admit it, but I am not dealing with the pressure well.

There are days when I deal with it okay, but there are days when I just can't help myself. So how do I change this?

Well, the first step I have completed I have admitted that I am having a problem. That's the easy part.
Next step, take a look at the days when I handle the pressure better. The first thing is that I am able to handle the pressure better when I am well rested. I am much easier to get along with if I've had a good nights sleep. If I don't get a good nights sleep it's like I turn into a two year old. The only person in the world is me, and I want what I want when I want it. If I'm rested I'm pretty easy peasy to get along with. So it's up to me to get plenty of rest.

The second thing I can do is assure that I am eating right. I always seem to have more energy if I stay away from sweets and junk food. It's so easy to fall into bad eating habits if you are pressed for time. It's easier to go through the drive thru. But combine a poor diet along with being tired. I turn into a raging lunatic when I am under too much pressure.

The final thing that works for me is to ask myself just how important is all of this. If it's not then I have to remind myself to stop worrying about it. There are times when you just have to do something and go on. It's only for a period of time.

So how well do you handle pressure? And what works for you?

The Waiting Is The Hard Part

Have you ever had times when you are waiting for something good to happen? You don't know exactly when it is gong to happen, but you know deep in your heart that it is going to happen. But the waiting is the hard part. The past two summers I have spent waiting for something to happen.

Each summer has involved waiting of a much different kind. Last summer I was waiting for my father's illness to end. This summer I am waiting for some big changes at my job. And the one thing I have figured out is that I don't like waiting. It doesn't matter if it is a good thing or a bad thing I am waiting for. I don't like it. And even worse I'm not good at it.

So apparently patience is a lesson I have to learn. Now deep in my heart I know all of this is going to be good for me, but somehow I just can't see how at the moment. Or is it that I just don't want to see it?

The struggle I am having with this life lesson is two fold. One I have to keep reminding myself that it is only temporary, and that in the end everything will work out for my good. The second is that I also have to remind myself on a daily basis that I have to enjoy what life has to offer me. These are not easy things for me to remember. But where would the challenge be if it was easy?

Do you find that waiting for things is difficult? And how do you deal with it?

If I Had Money To Burn

Have you had times when you just imagine what you would do if you had money to burn? How would you spend it? All of us would share with family and friends, but then there are some of those crazy things that you would buy. This week if I had money to burn these are the things I would just go crazy buying.

I would buy a lifetime supply of the printer of printer ink. I don't know about you guys, but I am always running out of ink at the most inconvenient times. I would also pay a little extra if it could be beamed to my house within 10 minutes of me realizing I'm out of it. I'm not sure if the second half of that is available at this point in time. But if that service is available, and I had money to burn I would buy it.

A set of adorable Star Wars nail decals. Everybody needs a little kawaii in their life don't they? And kawaii and Star Wars is a great combination.
Since I am a cat lover, I would absolutely adore this dress. It's so cute! And hey there is plenty of money right?

A VIP Weekend Pass to Wizard World along with someone to carry all of the goodies I pick up. You know it's like the ultimate geek dream.
A months supply of Minion Tic Tac's. They are adorable! And well Tic Tac's are just a good thing to keep on hand aren't they? You never know when you'll need a breath mint.

So if you had money to burn how what foolish things other than friends and family would you spend it on?

Living Hope

Our world is one that is full of individuals without hope. We hear about murders. We hear about how things will never be good again. So when I was contacted by Propeller to review a Cd called Living Hope that was being put out by a pizza joint called Pizza Ranch, I became curious. So I decided to tell them yes.

So here is a little background on the CD and its sponsor. This is the Pizza Ranch logo.
It's where the story begins. They decided to do something a little different from their everyday business of serving up pizza. They decided to deliver a message of hope. They decided that music was the way they were going to do it. So they managed to gather a group of Christian artists to form a compilation. And they decided that they would put it out at a low price of $5. The result is the compilation cd Living Hope.
The album features artists such as Michael W. Smith, Colton Dixon and Ellie Holcomb. These aren't artists that I typically listen to, but I did enjoy this cd. I really enjoyed the song by Ellie Holcomb called Hold Onto Hope. Maybe it's because I've just been pushed to the max recently, or I'm just in the mood for a little slower pace song. But the song appealed to me.

I liked some of the songs better than others, but I do believe that the owners of Pizza Ranch have achieved their goal with this compilation cd. They are sharing their belief that hope is alive.

So now that you know the story, you've heard some of the music. Go ahead and visit the site to get a copy of the cd or a digital download.

You Want Me To Do What?

You ever have those situations that are tossed at you where you just ask someone you want me to do what? You know when someone kind of asks the impossible out of you? It seems like quite a few of those situations have arisen for me at work recently. It feels like I've been hit with a one two punch sometimes.
You the incidents where the boss cancels your day off for the fourth week in a row. And then you will be filling in for a person at work, and you have no clue how to do their work, but they tell you has to be finished on time. You just want to scream you want me to do what? How do you handle those situations.

Well, in a perfect world we all react calmly. We do all of the right things, we walk away, we take a breath, we speak in a soft voice. But once in a while we just can't take it anymore and well you meltdown. How do you repair that?

First remove yourself from the situation. You need to calm down. Then you are going to have to try and minimize the damage. You have to apologize for your actions. And lastly, take a look at ways to avoid the problem in the future.

How do all of you handle situations when you just meltdown?

Sure Proof Way of Obtaining Your Desire

This is Captain and my topic of the day is obtaining your desire. I have discovered a sure proof way of obtaining my desire of catnip. For those of you who don't know what I'm talking about. This is the great love of my life.

Yes, this plant has brings me great joy. If you have read any of my other posts you will know just how much joy it brings. But enough of that, this is how I obtain my desire for more catnip.

Timing is of the utmost importance. I have found that the best time to set my plan in action is when my pet human is eating. This is prime time for this plan to work. When they are eating jump into their lap. They will tell you to get down and push you away. This is one thing you can be certain of. The next step in the plan is to repeat the action of jumping into their lap. It may actually take several tries, but eventually you will wear them down. But eventually they will come across a sure proof idea of keeping you away from them. They will provide you with that object of your desire which is catnip.

I assure you that this plan is successful, so please try it out. And don't forget to leave a testimonial.

July Goals 2015

Once again I have to say that it is hard to believe that it is July already. The past month has been a blur. I feel as if I am still struggling to finish things I start. Well I don't just feel like I am struggling with it. I know it! I can't figure out why this is such a struggle for me. It gets pretty frustrating when I don't finish what I start. I feel as though my job takes up so much of my time, but if I don't have a job I can't pay the bills. I'm sure this is a problem for pretty much everyone. So if you check out my post What Will June Offer you'll find that I wanted to complete these goals.

1. Clean out my old car
2. Make sugar scrub
3. Work on my art journal
4. Find some good things about work

It upsets me that this month I only completed one of the four goals I set for myself. I found some good things about work.

One of the good things about work with all of the overtime I have been working, I have been able to catch up on some bills so I am in a much better financial place than I was a year and a half ago. I am really thankful for this.

I have to admit that not completing the goals that I set for June made me feel kind of bad. I'm back to those feeling of never finishing things. But July is a new month, and I plan on making some progress on completing tasks.

So my goals for the month are as follows.

Spend time with people who are important to me

When life gets a little busy, I have the tendency to just stop socializing with people who are important to me. I really don't think this is healthy for me. I don't take time to unwind and do things that I enjoy. I get all caught up in what has to be done and I put together a schedule that is a little too structured. I have the tendency to get a little down because I'm not enjoying what is going on. People are key to getting me out of that rut. So this month, I am going to spend time with the important people in my life at least once a week.

Read for half an hour each day

Earlier this year I set this goal, and I did it. Well this past month or two I haven't done it. I really do enjoy reading, and I am going to spend time reading each day. Reading forces me to focus in on something other than what is going on at the moment. Books offer me the opportunity to visit other places and think about other ways to solve problems. I'm going to spend time reading each day.

I will not look at the clock on my days off

I feel like when I get a day off, I spend a great part of the day looking at the clock. I think I do this because my work days are so structured. And I feel like I have so much to accomplish on my few days off that I am constantly looking to see how much time I have left. And I don't get to sit back and enjoy the time off I have. This has to stop, so this month I will not look at the clock all the time when I have a day off. I'm going to let the days go where they go. Can I do it? I think I can.

Clean Out the Old Car

I don't really like caring goals over from a previous month, but this absolutely has to be completed. I need to finish this project up so I can save some money. I'm loosing about a hundred dollars a month by putting this off. And there really is no excuse for it. It's gonna happen this month. Don't get me wrong, I started working on this, but well I didn't complete it.

So what do you want to accomplish in the month of July? And what motivates you to accomplish your goals?

Depeche Mode Always Brings Me Bad Luck

I like the band Depeche Mode. But Depeche Mode always brings me bad luck. I'm not kidding it really does. It all started many years ago. You see I listened to Depeche Mode's tapes. Yes they were tapes at that point in time. For those of you who don't know what a cassette tape looks like. This is a picture of one.

You see the music made me want to dance. The lyrics were a little dark so I liked that. Then my friend and I found out Depeche Mode was playing outside of Chicago. We had to go! We got our tickets. And the day came. It was a road trip to the show! We listened to Depeche Mode on the way. We arrived early. So we stopped at a store. It was getting closer to the time when the doors would open so we got back in the car to go, but the car wouldn't go. This couldn't be happening, but oh yes it was. I found someone to look at the car, and the verdict was that there was something wrong with the alternator. They recommended that we return home immediately. But we would not be deterred. We had to see Depeche Mode. We got to the show it was great. After the show, the car didn't start again. The hunt began for some guys to give us a push so I could pop the clutch. They were found and we were able to get back home safely. I took the car to the shop the next day, and yes I needed some work done on the car. I was a few hundred dollars poorer.

Then a couple of years later. The Violator album was released. Yes, I needed the tape. I got the tape. I listened to the tape. I loved the tape. Once again I spent time in my car listening to the tape. I listened to the tape on the way to the library one evening. I was in college and I needed to do some research for a paper. I got to the library and put my coat down. I was young and I was careless. I walked off, and when I came back my coat was gone. My car keys were gone too! I didn't have a way home. I got a ride home and began mourning the loss of my coat. Young and dumb as I was little did I realize that I should really be mourning the loss of my vehicle. I got a ride to go pick up my car the next morning. We drove past where I parked my car, and it wasn't there. I told my ride. And she exclaimed No! We'll drive around the block and it will be there. So we did and it still wasn't there. Depeche Mode had struck again! My car was stolen.

A couple of years later, I saw a used Depeche Mode tape. I wanted it! I bought it! Low and behold some weird things started occurring. The boyfriend I had at the time fell in love with the tape. He was a real loser. Actually, he was the definition of a loser. I had to explain to him what the songs meant. Well, as time went by with this Depeche Mode tape, my car engine blew up. And well I got myself into a financial mess which took me a while to dig my way out of.

In reality, I know that Depeche Mode didn't really bring me bad luck. I know that much of what happened was based on decisions I made at the time. But I still haven't purchased another Depeche Mode tape, Cd, or even downloaded a song of theirs since then. So maybe part of me really does believe that it brought me bad luck.
