Three Common Uses For Sage

Sage is a common herb. You can grow it in your garden, or you can pick up fresh sage at the grocery store. It’s easy to find. Here are three common uses for sage.

Household Cleaner

A mixture of sage, vinegar, alcohol plus a drop of dish soap will create a household cleaner. The sage and alcohol mixture will lessen the scent of the vinegar.

Mouthwash

You can make a tincture with sage and 190 proof to help with a cough.

Hair Color

A combination of sage and boiling water that is allowed to cool can help cover up grey hairs.

So don’t be afraid to be creative with the herbs in your garden.

You're The Star Blog Hop

Why is it so difficult to not worry about situations that haven't arisen yet? Why do we let our imaginations run wild? That is what I am asking myself today. There is a situation my emotions tell me might occur, but something in my head is telling me that is stupid, why are you worrying about this? I know it's an age old battle for a lot of people. But it is one that I am struggling with this week. And you know what I just have to keep telling myself stop worrying about the unknown.

They Magically Disappear When You Need Them

Co-Workers

Have you ever been assigned a less than desirable task at work? You are the type of person who helps others with tasks so you think maybe someone will help you out. You head over to begin the work, and everyone has magically disappeared. You feel angry and you think about all the times you have helped others. You wonder why aren’t they returning the favor?

You tell yourself I’ll show them I won’t help anyone else with this. But then you realize you don’t want to be a person that ignores others. You know that it isn’t right to act that way. And you tell yourself maybe next time they will help.

This Week I Am Thankful For

This week I am thankful for so many things. I decided to share some of them with all of you.

Hot summer afternoons that have small rain showers. The rain always feels cool on your skin, and it is always so much cooler after the burst of rain. And then you are blessed with that rainbow. It is always such a relaxing sensation.

The chance to lie under a shade tree on a sunny evening and enjoy the blue sky’, and imagine all of the creations that the clouds present. And the thought that ran through my mind was why don’t I take the time to do this more often?

Making a beaded wind chime. I am thankful for the chance to relax with a good friend. I am also grateful for all of the colors and textures I sorted through.

The sweet taste of cherries. They are one of nature’s candies.

Finding that perfect item for a friend when I was out thrifting. Aren’t those half off sales just dangerous? It really is like a hunting party.

So what are you grateful for this week?

Stop Wasting That Food

We’ve all heard that a lot of food is wasted, but can you imagine just how much there really is? The USDA estimates that 90 billion pounds of food goes uneaten. That comes to about $370 per person each year. Yikes that is an amount of money you can do something with. And now I have your attention right? What can you do about this waste though? Here’s a few simple things.

Plan Your Meals

If you have a family this is a must. From the planner will come a grocery list. As long as you stick to the list you will purchase less food. And you will spend less money and waste less food.

Consider A Food Service

If you are single consider a food service. Yes, they are a little pricey, but you will be receiving the right amount of food to prepare a meal, and less food will go to waste.

Foodpreppers App

There is an app for everything. Foodkeeper is a free app that help you determine the best storage methods. It also let’s you know when foods are approaching their storage life.

Support Businesses

The EPA has set up a program that numerous manufacturers and retailers are involved in to reduce food waste. These businesses recycle their waste through donating, feeding animals and creating compost. Make sure you support these businesses. They are doing something right.

The Case Of The Missing Silkie

I met a beautiful little silkie this week. She wasn’t a silkie terrier, but a silkie hen. She was white with puffy feathers, and blue skin underneath it all. She was a shy little thing. But she was beginning to come out of her shell. And there were plans to turn her into a rainbow chicken.

After we met the whittle widow as she was called. The group of us enjoyed food, drinks and songs. It turned dark, and it was time to escort her to her house. But when we went to find her she was gone.

The other chicks were there, but the widow was missing. We looked in the trees, and we looked through the caged area. There was no commotion that we could remember. And a white chicken is easy to see.

Did she fly the coupe? No, she can’t fly. The fence was closed so she couldn’t have walked out. Perhaps, it was aliens. She was abducted by a race of alien chickens. Or was it a chicken rapture? Probably not, but you can leave no stone unturned.

The practical person in the group decided that a raccoon was the abductor of the wittle widow. If you have any information that can lead to the solution of the case of the missing silkie please comment below.

July Goals 2018

June was not a good month for me when it came to completing goals. I ran into some problems because I had to l a few extra days this month. So there was no time to complete extras. This month will be different. I am starting my goals at the very first of the month. So here’s what I want to accomplish this month.

Bear

You saw pictures of some of the projects I have been working on recently. I want to complete the bear. I have been stuck on some of the design recently. But this month the bear will be complete.

Toys

I have a big basket full of toys that I have used for a craft project. I want to sort through those toys to see what direction the crafts should go. And are there any toys I just don’t need.

State Park

I really want to go to one of the parks in the area. They have buffalo. And you can get close to them.
I’m going to see those buffalo this month.

Shoes

I need new work shoes. I have to get new ones every few months, but I hate buying them. This month I will get those new shoes.

That’s what I want to accomplish this month.

Trivia Of The Day

Everyone needs a little trivia in their lives. We all need a little conversation piece that is way over the top. Here’s some for you trivia lovers out there.

Horse and Carriage

The first baby carriage was made in 1733 by William Kent, an English architect. A miniature version of a horse drawn carriage, this invention was hooked up to a small animal, such as a goat or dog, so the child could enjoy a ride.

Poverty Revealed

Through his characters, nineteenth century English author Charles Dickens revealed what it was like to be poor in Victorian England. He is known for classics as Oliver Twist.

Sing a Song

Male grasshoppers sing to attract a mate. To produce their song, they rub their lower fore wings together. The singing of grasshoppers is known as stridation.

So there are three pieces of trivia you can pull out whenever you need them.

Happiness Is Mandatory

We live in a world where everyone is seeking happiness. We hear all different ways to bring about happiness. But what if happiness was mandatory?

Imagine a world where we couldn’t express feelings of anger. Imagine not being able to say we feel sad when someone important to us passes away. Would we really be happy if we never experienced all of the other emotions that life has to offer?

If happiness was mandatory would we truly be happy?

Three Ways To Add Pizzazz To Your Decorating

Sometimes you just need a little different look in the room around you. And it needs to be low in price as well as easy to accomplish. Here’s three super easy ways to make a decorating update to any room.

Layering

You know it looks great with clothing. But layers also add a little extra to a room. You can prop framed pictures or mirrors against a wall, overlapping them slightly. Top a stack of books with a knick knack. Or drape a throw over the arm of a chair. This will provide your room with a little depth.

Big

Adding a large mirror to a room can actually make a room look larger. You’re adding loads of natural light. And these mirrors can be picked up at garage sales or thrift stores.

Flowers

This time of year you can walk out into your garden and find the simplest method of adding flare to a room. While vases are nice, don’t forget you have other items in your home that will make great vases. Teacups and bowls are a fun change of pace.

So let me know how you spruce up a room.

Wednesday's Thoughts

This week has been busy as usual. It has been full of activities. But none of them feel productive this week. There are things I need to do, and there are things I want to do.

I sit down and think what do I want to do first? But I cannot make up my mind. I think I can get something important completed, but I don’t want to. All I can think is I want to take a nap. But then I think that napping would be a waste of time.

Then I think I could read for a little bit. And I realize that will probably just make me more sleepy. I don’t want that. Then I realize I really do have to get ready for work. And I think I can’t wait for a day off when I can read a book and take a nap.

You're The Star Blog Hop

Have you ever been faced with a choice? Not just any choice, but it's a good choice you have to make. I have one of those coming up. At least I think I do. There is going probably going to be a position where I could have the weekends off. And it will be a job that I like. I mean I can do things on the weekend with my friends. It's been awhile since that has happened. At first it seemed like a definite. But then I realized, there are a lot of things I actually enjoy about have weekdays off. So I am thinking about what I am going to do. And hopefully I will make the right choice.

Those Darn Critters

I have been working hard on my garden. So I was really disappointed the other morning when I went out into my garden area. The gerber daisies I had nursed back to health were trampled. And the insult to beat all insults was the crown I placed in the garden was knocked over, and those darn critters pooped right beside it. Are they trying to tell me that I am not the queen of my garden?

Creative Works In Process

I thought it was time to share with everyone a couple of the creative projects I've been working on. In case you didn't know it. I really like sugar skulls. So I found this paper mache bear a couple of years ago. And I finally got the project going. He isn't finished yet, but he is going to be adorable isn't he?

And then there are all of those clothes I have. I found the perfect patch for a jean jacket. I plan to add some other things, but it's gonna be so cute for fall.

Let me know what you think, and what have all of you been creating recently?

I Only Missed Eight Days

I was speaking to a coworker the other day. He is a new permanent employee. It’s a big deal because he gets all the benefits and the temporary jobs are crappy. He says that he only called in eight times last year.

Another coworker heard this and exclaimed eight times? He seemed surprised and asked is that a lot? The reply was yeah you should have been fired for attendance issues.

I told him don’t call in anymore. He said I thought that wasn’t that often.

I thought how can this be? How can a 25 year old not know that showing up for work is actually ninty percent of his job? If you know the answer can you let me know?

Making Get Togethers Easy

This time of year everyone is having get togethers with family and friends. Here’s a few simple things you can do to make them a little easier.

Simple Coolers

Summer is the time when fruit is plentiful. Use it to make tasty fresh and cool simple drinks. Grab some lemons to make lemonade, or you can use strawberries and blueberries along with some coconut water to make a healthy drink for everyone at your get together.

Tags

Ever been to a party and you’re confused about which drinks are yours, so you just go get another glass to drink out of. Reduce the odds of this happening by picking up some rubber bands, Manila tags and a sharpie. This will allow guests to write their names on the tags and mark their drinking cup.

Easy Bake

Terra cotta is an easy baking container. And a new one is extremely cheap. And it will add a decorative flair to your get together. Add some olive oil, olives and feta cheese. Bake this mixture at 350 degrees in the oven until the cheese turns brown. You can serve it in the terra cotta container.

Try these out and let me know how they work for you.

How To Ruin A Diet

Have you ever really tried to change your eating habits? I mean the doctor is always saying you need to eat healthy and exercise. Sometimes it seems like a waste of time to go to the doctor because they just repeat themselves over and over. They are kind of like a broken record if you want to know the truth. But after a visit to the doctor, I decided I need to do at least some of what he says.

I begin eating healthier. I am eating salads and cutting back on the fatty foods. I am proud of myself. I am doing so well. Then I go out to eat with a friend. I plan on staying away from fried food. Then my friend  says the thing that is a sure fire way to ruin a diet.

Wanna share some cheese fries?

You're The Star Blog Hop

Man, the heat has been turned on outside. It is over ninety degrees. And well it is making me wish for a swimming pool. I keep thinking wouldn't it be great to just dive into a cool pool of water? And for some reason swimming pools are just part of summer. It reminds me of all those summers as a child spending time at a pool. But now I know that I really should wear a lot of sunscreen to avoid the sunburns I got as a child.

The Sky Has Bright Fluffiness Floating Through It

Have you ever looked up and saw that the sky has bright fluffiness floating through it? Today I looked up and noticed that fluffiness. It was what I needed.

The past couple of days I have been with some situations that have frustrated me. People in my personal life, and people I work with. For some reason even though I know it isn’t that important life has frustrated me.

But today I looked up, and remembered that life is beautiful. And I need to remember to enjoy all it has to offer.
